As a former resident of Austin and employee of various state and local agencies and districts, this article reminds me of all the things I hate about politics. Public meetings are mostly replays of high school social pettiness, just dressed up with more adult words. Your play-by-play is very entertaining, but in the end I just feel like I need a shower...

What a surprise, one of Adler's lackeys thinks we should give more handouts to developers and just cross our fingers and hope that those handouts magically turn into savings for home buyers/renters. The entire point of whatever this group of words is, is complete BS. If you give handouts to developers, they will stuff them in their pockets, not pass the savings on to buyers. So yes, the idea that Natasha Harper-Madison wants to spend city money to figure out what fees we can stop charging developers, is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Thank god there's still a few people on the council with some sense. That would be the yeahbutters you mock. They are the ones who are right here. And yes, so sorry that people who have lived here long enough to know how much better it was before all these developers gentrified the whole city actually care about quality of life. You see, the quality of life in Austin is part of the reason people still want to move here, along with the jobs that the tech companies brought when they decided to colonize the city. In the end, even if these greedy developers pass the saving on to buyers, we are talking about a few hundred/thousand dollars on the purchase of a million dollar home. Not going to make much difference But we all know those developers are going to pocket the money, and give a lot of it to the campaigns of the city council people who gave them the handouts to begin with. The Adler/Casar regime has destroyed this city. It will never recover. So tiring to hear another one of their lackey's get a snooty with the yeahbutters that are trying to save the city.
