Sorry I didn’t get to The Experiment last Sunday. Ran out of gas and needed to refuel, which I did thanks to a great conversation on a porch in Spicewood. So now I’ve got a conundrum: Do I write about what I was thinking about writing last weekend or this weekend. You choose:
Dr. Fauci said we’re leaving the pandemic and entering an endemic phase. How has our last two years on constant crisis footing changed us? I take a measure of things from the NFL Draft and the White House Correspondents Dinner.
This weekend I’m judging the Texas High School BBQ Championship, which should not be confused with the other Texas High School BBQ Championship that took place last weekend. You see, there was a schism in the scholastic smoked-meat world. The result? I get to drive into rural Texas to eat steak cooked by adolescent pit masters. Should be a whole scene.
Tell me which one you want to read by replying or commenting.
Meanwhile, know anyone who wants to be an $18-an-hour comms intern in Austin?
